Milpitas, CA – November 16, 2021 – This season marked the 15th year of hosting fundraisers/food drives at D&V, a leading provider of grading and paving construction services in Northern California. Its fundraising campaign to support Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, a food bank for Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, began Tuesday, October 19, 2021 and ended on Friday, November 12, 2021. Within that time frame, D&V set a goal to raise $12,500, which could provide 25,000 meals because for every $1 donated, Second Harvest could turn it into 2 meals. D&V chose to support Second Harvest because it could see that there are a lot of people in Silicon Valley that are in dire need for the basics such as food. It means that they could help the community that really needs the assistance and it was also a great way for its employees to come together and give back.  It was D&V’s second year of hosting a full virtual food drive where online donations were encouraged. In the past, it hosted traditional food drives with collections of canned goods and non-perishable items. Now, Second Harvest has changed its collection and distribution process due to the pandemic and it has asked fundraisers to transition to virtual food drives.  D&V’s transition was successful. It was able to reach and exceed its goal. D&V’s employees donated generously and its CEO, Mark Petersen, offered to match all the employee donations. Some of its vendors also made contributions to the fundraiser and it couldn’t have reached its goal without the vendors’ help. D&V would like to extend its gratitude to A-1 Trucking, All Bay Marble, All Cities Trucking, Allied Waste – Newby Island, Bond Pavement Solutions, California Express Trucking, Centerline Striping, Gagliasso Trucking, Lombardo Diamond Core Drilling Company, MAG Trucking, Nunes & Associates, Stevens Creek Quarry, Sunstate Equipment, Howard Loomis, Tri-Valley Striping, Western States Tools & Supply, White Cap, and Zanker Recyling for their continued support and kindness. D&V’s final fundraising result was over $20,000, which will provide over 40,000 meals for families that need assistance in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

On November 16, 2021 Gregg Fisher, VP and Marivie Ricalde, Operations Admin, presented their fundraising efforts of $20,050 to Leslie Bacho, CEO of Second Harvest.  She was truly grateful for D&V’s support and was so thrilled to accept its generous donation. In addition, Alicia Ruiz, Corporate Philanthropy Officer of Second Harvest also said, “It really shows that no matter how you give, it is the mission that matters the most.”
