Milpitas, CA –November 21, 2013 – Duran & Venables, a leading provider of grading and paving construction services in Northern California, helped raised an exceptional amount of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank this year. This marks the 7th year in a row. The amount of food and other needed items for the Second Harvest Food Bank weighed in over 4 tons and $4,295 in funds: 18,489 meals!
The Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is the trusted leader dedicated to ending local hunger. Since 1974, it has become one of the largest food banks in the nation, providing food to an average of nearly one quarter of a million people each month. Second Harvest also operates direct service programs for seniors, families with children, and individuals; helping people learn about proper nutrition and gaining access to resources available to them. Kayla Haley, Community Relations and Events Associate from Second Harvest Food Bank attended the event and was impressed by the quantity of food that Duran & Venables was able to collect: “Duran & Venables and their partners held a holiday food and fund drive that will provide much-needed meals to our hungry neighbors.
