Duran & Venables Helps with New Facility for Society for the Blind

society-for-the-blindJuly 8, 2008 Sacramento, CA - In 1953, a committee of the Sacramento County Adult Blind planned and organized an association that was to become the Society for the Blind, a private 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency. Their purpose was to develop an entity under the auspices of which visually impaired people of all ages, backgrounds and interests could meet to interact with one another, plan and enjoy social functions, and benefit from rehabilitation services. After 55 years of providing services for the blind throughout Northern California, the Society for the Blind needed to expand to a larger facility. The organization has been successfully raising funds to purchase and renovate a 20,000 square-foot building located at 13th and S Street in midtown Sacramento. A total of $5 million is needed, of that $2.1 million will be used to purchase the building and $1.9 million will be used to renovate.
