A record 300-plus employees, family and friends turned out for Duran & Venables’ 17th annual company picnic at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on Sept. 30, 2006.

How did picnic organizers Alexie Venables, Vivian Arce and Victoria Arce entertain this enthusiastic crowd? “With really good food and some great games and prizes for the kids and adults,” says Venables.

With temperatures ranging in the 70s, picnic tables bordering the white sandy beach, and wide open space for activities, it was the perfect setting for everyone to enjoy the all-you-can-eat barbecue, refreshments and dessert. A series of drawings, games, and contests followed the feast, which included a balloon toss, three-legged race, and a bubble-gum-chewing contest for the adults and kids – and some great prizes for the winners
